Recycling & Waste Collection
Palmer Woods recycling and waste collection is managed by Waste Management through a contract with the City of Detroit. On their website, you can get up-to-date information and sign up for service alerts.

Collection Calendar and Text Alerts
All collection services (trash, recycling, yard waste, and bulk waste) in Palmer Woods occur on THURSDAYS, with trash being collected weekly, and recycling, yard waste, and bulk waste being collected every other week. All waste and containers must be ready for pickup by 7:00 a.m.
There will be no collection on major holidays, including New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Additionally, collection will delayed to Friday in weeks where a major holiday falls during the week.

Trash Collection
Trash collection is scheduled for every Thursday for all of Palmer Woods, subject to the Waste Management Holiday Schedule (see above).
All garbage should be bagged and placed inside the provided black container. Containers should be placed within 4 feet of the curb with handle facing toward away from the street. The container must be placed curbside prior to 7:00 a.m. For a replacement container, or to start new service, contact Waste Management Customer Care at (844) 233-8764, with a one-time fee of $25 per container.
Recycling Collection
Recycling collection is scheduled for every other Thursday for all of Palmer Woods, subject to the Waste Management Holiday Schedule (see above).
All recycling should be placed in the provided blue recycling containers. Containers should be placed within 4 feet of the curb, and at least 3 feet from trash containers, with handle facing toward away from the street. The container must be placed curbside prior to 7:00 a.m. For a replacement container, or to start new service, contact Waste Management Customer Care at (844) 233-8764, with a one-time fee of $25 per container.

Bulk Waste Collection
Bulk waste collection is scheduled for every other Thursday, subject to the Waste Management Holiday Schedule (see above).
Items accepted for pickup are those which would not fit in an empty garbage container. Construction and demolition debris and hazardous waste are not accepted. Bulk waste items must be placed curbside prior to 7:00 a.m.
Yard Waste Collection
Yard waste collection is scheduled for every other Thursday for all of Palmer Woods from April through mid-December, subject to the Waste Management Holiday Schedule (see above).
Yard waste must be bagged in paper yard bags or tied into bundles. Plastic bags will not be picked up. Yard waste must be placed curbside prior to 7:00 a.m.

Help keep our streets clear and tidy!
Please refrain from placing refuse (especially yard waste) at the street more than 24 hours in advance of the next scheduled pickup.
