Past year’s tours have been enjoyed by hundreds of guests who make it a tradition to enjoy the historic homes of Palmer Woods. The event will allow guests the chance to tour five of our historically significant homes, lavishly dressed in holiday splendor. Following the tour, guests will gather at one of our most treasured homes to enjoy great food and entertainment.

The tours are organized in timed shifts to help prevent crowding and provide a safer and more enjoyable experience. Only a limited amount of tickets will be offered for this event in the interest of keeping our guests safe.

Net proceeds from Palmer Woods events are used to fund various infrastructure projects which have benefit to our neighborhood. In addition, a portion of proceeds is given to local charities.

Tour Highlights

One of Metro Detroit’s most popular events, this year’s Holiday Home Tour offers a unique opportunity to see inside the homes in one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Michigan. The 2022 Tour will feature five homes throughout the neighborhood, which highlight the diversity and splendor of our neighborhood’s varied architectural styles, showcasing the homes all decked out in holiday style. The Soirée will be held at yet another festively decorated home, for a total of six homes that tour guests will have the opportunity to explore:

      • A grand, light-filled 1923 Tudor Revival designed by architect Alvin E. Harley, which has been lovingly restored and retains its magnificent  original features throughout;
      • A stunning 1915 English Country Cottage home, newly renovated with tasteful design and modern conveniences;
      • A  stately English Country Cottage in the Tudor Revival style, designed in 1924 by the Frazer-Couzens Building Company, with elegant interior spaces and a newly renovated kitchen;
      • A beautiful home built in 1928 by William J Malloy, a classic Tudor-Revival home with comfortable, cottagey feel while boasting extensive original architectural elements;
      • A mid-century home built in 1953, fabulously decorated with furnishings of the era, with original design elements and a basement that has been transformed into an elaborate tiki lounge;
      • Soirée Home: A handsome 1925 estate designed by architect Clarence E. Day, and built for owner of the Detroit Tigers, Walter O. Briggs and family, featuring original details throughout.

As in previous years, the Soirée will be our capstone event, featuring live music, food, and beverages, and will be a chance to see old friends and make new ones. It is a wonderful way to ring in the holiday season in a festive, fun-filled atmosphere.

On the day of the event, motor coaches will transport guests amongst the various homes and the offsite guest parking. Docents will be distributed throughout the homes to provide historical facts and relevant information. After viewing the five homes on the main tour, guests will complete their evening at the Soirée home, where entertainment, food, and libations await.

This is a sold-out event every year, so do not hesitate to buy your tickets today!
