Music In Homes: Pre-New Year’s Eve Party! Kathy Kosins & Kamau Kenyatta Quintet

Kathy Kosins is “one of the  most alluring voices in Jazz” according to the Chicago Tribune, and Blue Note Records President Don Was takes it up a notch, proclaiming her “one of the finest singers in the world.” An internationally acclaimed vocalist, songwriter, composer and painter, Kosins has been filling the airwaves and concert halls with magic for decades.

Kosins will perform with an all-star band, including her new producer Kamau Kenyatta on piano. Kenyatta recently won a Grammy for producing famed jazz vocalist Gregory Porter’s newest recording, following three Grammy nominations with Porter. A superb saxophonist as well as keyboardist, Kenyatta is also well established as a film composer and educator currently at University of California San Diego.

Creating the holiday spirit with Kosins and Kenyatta will be guitarist A. Spencer Barefield, bassist Dave Young (Canadian Juno awardee who performed with Oscar Peterson for decades), and percussionist Djallo Djakate Keita.
