Net proceeds from Palmer Woods events are used to fund various infrastructure projects which have benefit to our neighborhood. In addition, a portion of proceeds is given to local charities.

Tour Highlights

One of Metro Detroit’s most popular events, this year’s Holiday Home Tour offers a unique opportunity to see inside the homes in one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Michigan. The 2024 Tour will feature five homes throughout the neighborhood, which highlight the diversity and splendor of our neighborhood’s varied architectural styles, showcasing the homes all decked out in holiday style. The Soirée will be held at yet another festively decorated home, for a total of six homes that tour guests will have the opportunity to explore:

  • A stately and elegant 1938 Tudor Revival designed by architect C. Howard Crane & Associates, featuring a brick, stone, and wood exterior, and which has been carefully updated while retaining numerous magnificent original features throughout (Lincolnshire Drive);
  • A beautifully appointed 1923 Tudor Revival designed by the architectural firm of Verner, Wilhelm, and Molby, boasting numerous original features, three stories of living space, and an updated kitchen and master bedroom/bathroom (Lowell Drive);
  • A gorgeous limestone and brick Tudor Revival, built in 1930 by the architect William H. Kuni, featuring the original mahogany library and stairway, decorative plaster throughout, and a vaulted dining room with murals, painted by the owner artist, depicting the history of Detroit (Afton Road);
  • A stately 1930 limestone Tudor Revival, designed and constructed by Richard Marr, the “Architect of Midwest Millionaires” which has been lovingly cared for by several generations of owners and retains much of its original character, such as beautifully plastered ceilings and pickled white oak wood trim (Gloucester Drive);
  • A stunning 1923 estate designed by architect Clarence E. Day, which has been thoughtfully updated while preserving many of its exquisite original features, making it a perfect blend of timeless elegance and modern comfort (Suffolk Drive).
The 2024 Soirée: A Night of Elegance and Legacy

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Soirée will be held at the prestigious Rose Estate in the Golf Club Subdivision—the former residence of Detroit icon, Aretha Franklin. This historic estate has been beautifully restored by its current owners, honoring its rich history and the musical legacy of its celebrated former occupant.

Soirée guests will have the exclusive opportunity to tour this extraordinary home, immersing themselves in its unique history. Throughout the evening, you’ll be serenaded by live performances featuring an eclectic blend of jazz, holiday classics, and of course, songs made famous by the Queen of Soul herself. You will also indulge in a gourmet dining experience with a curated menu by a renowned local chef, offering an array of exquisite dishes, decadent desserts, and an abundant selection of fine beverages to lift your spirits and satisfy every palate.

On the day of the event, motor coaches will transport guests amongst the various homes and the offsite guest parking. Docents will be distributed throughout the homes to provide historical facts and relevant information. After viewing the five homes on the main tour, guests will complete their evening at the Soirée home, where entertainment, food, and libations await.

This is a sold-out event every year, so do not hesitate to buy your tickets today!
