Ta-Nehisi Coates, The Atlantic, April 2011

A wonderful article by Ta-Nehisi Coates, nationally renowned author and correspondent for The Atlantic. This article depicts the history Palmer Woods as part of the greater story of Metro Detroit, writted from the perspective of African American families that established themselves in Palmer Woods in the 1950s and 1960s, creating “the American black elite’s most majestic enclave.” A fantastic article and a must-read for anyone interested in the history of our neighborhood.
