Motor City Makeover

Twenty-two Palmer Woods residents turned out on May 11, 2013 for our first-ever Motor City Makeover Clean-Up. Event organizers Barbara Barefield, Jodee Raines and Robert Dewaelsche were joined by Rick Bowers, Nelson Brooks, Veda Bryant, Eugene Driker, Tracey Betina Foster and her 4-year old son Reed, Mareo Jenkins, Rochelle Lento, Mark Magidson, Warfield Moore, Jr, Roy Raines, Orlando Robinson, Alicia Harris-Turner and her teenage daughter Angel Hall, and Denise Yezbick. Thanks also to Beth Carnaghi who helped plan the event but was unable to join us on the 11th due to her mother’s passing.

We worked along Woodward, 7 Mile and in Lincolnshire Park, collecting 12 large bags of garbage and a box worth of recyclables, cut 4 bundles worth of dead branches and rounded up 2 illegally dumped tires. We also cleaned the bus stop north of Strathcona and removed illegal, unsightly signs in the few square miles surrounding our neighborhood. Orlando and Mareo cut the grass along Woodward, 7 Mile and Lincolnshire Park and hauled all of the trash bags and dead branches to the Public Works yard.
