Help Us Improve Cellular Coverage in Palmer Woods!

Many residents in our neighborhood experience poor cell phone reception—dropped calls, failed texts, and unusable data coverage. To get this problem addressed, we need hard evidence. The FCC Speed Test app allows us to officially record and submit data that carriers and regulators cannot ignore. By collecting as much data as possible, we strengthen our case for improved service.

This Coverage Drive will run for the entire month of October. During this time, we ask every resident to run as many tests as possible—at different times of day, across different parts of the neighborhood. A larger sample size makes our case much stronger.

How to Collect Data

Follow these three simple steps to help us prove our neighborhood’s poor cell coverage. Every test strengthens our case for better service!

Step 1: Download the FCC Speed Test App

Navigate to your smartphone’s App Store below!

Step 2: Run Speed Tests in the Neighborhood
  • GO OUTSIDE—tests must be run outdoors.
  • TURN OFF WI-FI so you’re only on cellular data.
  • Open the App
  • Enter your name, email address, and mobile phone number (first test only).
  • Select “Single Test” and “Challenge” then tap “Start Test” to begin.
  • Take note of your speed test results and share via Google Form (see below).

    NOTE:

    • Run tests at various locations in the neighborhood and at different times of the day.
    • Repeat often—aim for at least 3–5 tests per week.
Step 3: Share Test Results with the Board

The FCC automatically records the data, but to strengthen our neighborhood case we also need you to log your results in our Coverage Drive Google Form, where you will enter the carrier, date/time of test, location (address or cross-streets), and speed test results.

Step 4: Log Service Ticket(s) with Your Carrier

Finally, it will be essential to log service tickets with your own carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile) noting your slow speed test results. Carriers do pay attention to clusters of trouble reports when deciding where to add coverage!
